In mid-November 2025, HY-Plug set sail for Malta for three intense days at two flagship events in the maritime sector: MaritimeMT and Maritime World.
Three interventions, three key moments
Camille had the pleasure of going on stage three times:
MaritimeMT – November 19 : presentation on the energy transition in the maritime sector to 30 participants.
Maritime World – November 20 : Moderator of the panel “Yachting & Superyachts Role in the Modern Maritime Economy” , in front of 150 participants, alongside Thomas Kieffer, Stephan Piazza, Nico Sciberras and Mark Savona.
Maritime World – November 20 : speaker in the panel “Decarbonisation & Accountability: Staying Ahead of EU Climate Rule” , with Evangelia Pouli, Abigail Cutajar, Raymond Sultana and Żaneta Kłostowska, also in front of 150 participants.
These interventions provided an opportunity to present HY-Plug, its projects and its expertise on the decarbonization of ports and marinas, while inspiring captains, shipowners and decision-makers to integrate the energy transition into their operations.
Practical decarbonization: biofuel at your fingertips
During a discussion with a future First Officer in Malta, Camille was able to illustrate the concrete impact of integrating biofuel:
A 90% diesel / 10% biofuel blend costs only 2 to 3 cents more per liter
For a 3,000-liter fill-up, the difference is only €90.
Result: 7% less CO₂, without changing habits, distance travelled or boat performance
For the past 6 months, HY-Plug and its partner Jean-Loup Thivet have been offering this solution at the Port of Beaulieu, with more than 375 satisfied users, demonstrating that decarbonization can be simple, safe and accessible.
A favorable context for Malta
The Maltese government recently signed an agreement for the development of Clean Energy Marine Hubs, steering the maritime sector towards sustainable solutions.
For HY-Plug, these events provided an opportunity to:
Raising awareness and training local stakeholders in the energy transition
To demonstrate that decarbonization can be achieved gradually, with a real impact on emissions and costs
Inspiring ports and shipowners to adopt concrete solutions to reduce their carbon footprint and enhance their image with customers and investors
